Lysosomal Storage Diseases Supported by several NIH-grants (Haskins, Wolfe), a large variety of lysosomal storage diseases in dogs, cats, and mice with progressive skeletal and neurologic signs have been discovered. As they represent human disease homologues, animal colonies with these disorders have been established to further study the pathogenesis and develop safe and effective therapies including enzyme replacement, transplantation, and gene therapy. |
